I remember Robert McDermott from "Top of the Form", and his being the pedantic yet caring Headmaster type. BBC Third Programme was started in 1946, but I don't know the McDermott connection. That riverbed stuff just does not seem to fit anything. Come on others, have a go. (Blast! that was Wilfred Pickles and Violet Carson)
