Our fridge door seal needs replacing, but a search for the part reveals that it is obsolete.

Does that mean there is no way to replace it? Is there an alternative?

It's a PROline PC178A.

Is it damaged beyond repair? If it's just flattened out of shape you could try playing hot air on it with a hair dryer.
You can buy DIY kits on Amazon.

Thanks to both of you. It's just that the fridge door sometimes comes open, so it's not sticking very well.

The DIY kit doesn't sound very convincing. One of the reviewers said they had to use tape to keep their fridge door shut because the DIY kit seal wasn't the right thickness! And it says you attach it with glue, whereas original seals just use screws and clip in, I think. But thanks for the suggestion.

I also just read that using nail varnish remover to clean the seal might help.
just a thought but if you cant get the part could you fit one of these to keep it shut http://www.tesco.com/direct/lindam-xtra-guard-appliance-latch/335-3890.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=335-3890
Koster I think that "proline"was a make of "Comet",which they built out of parts from various suppliers.

Spares have always been a problem for any "proline" item.

Have you tried espares as they do many "all types" of seals so maybe they can be of some help to you.If nothing on their web site then a phone call to them often solves your problem. Their staff are extremely helpful.
