Will Extracting The Dead Abscessed Tooth And Taking Antibiotics Cure The Infection In The Jaw Bone Too?

I have a dead tooth and can't afford the root canal. I have opted to have it extracted. I'm on antibiotics for the next week before the extraction. Once the tooth is out will the infection be gone for good and will the jaw bone heal ?

The basic principle of treating infections is drainage and antibiotics and if the tooth is removed, that implies drainage, and the correct antibiotics are given, then the jaw bone "should heal."

A small chance that the infection may become chronic ( long standing) is a possibility ( osteomyelitis) but that is uncommon today.

yeah agree sqad from general principles

it is very uncommon for the bone left to be dead and infected ( altho it can happen ). I delayed having my rt upper 7 taken out and am regretting it but you can be sure your dentist is doing the right thing
