I was catching up with yesterday's In It To Win It and one question was 'which national capital is furthest south?' The options were Sydney, Cape Town and Wellington. I was under the belief that Canberra is the capital of Australia and Sydney is only the capital of New South Wales.
I may not have put the exact wording, it could have been which of these national capitals.....They should all have been national capitals. If there was a question about rugby players (well there was actually) the three options should all have been rugby players and not one and two cricketers.
Ah....I know the answer to this, Dale. It isn't A because...blah, blah......it isn't C because blah, blah...(have I wasted enough time yet, Dale)....so, it must be B, Dale.
"would you like me to take B as your answer then?"
"Er, yes please Dale. Oh, it might be A after all".
And so on...and so on....
It's the same on Eggheads - they go through all the options and then settle on the obvious one which they knew all along. It happens on Decimate too although in that case, the majority of contestants have to examine each answer as they seem to have such poor general knowledge e.g. Nixon was the first President to live in the White House or Wat Tyler was involved in the Gunpowder Plot.
Cape Town isn't really the national capital of South Africa either.
That's generally accepted as being Pretoria depending on your definition of "capital". Certainly if you had to pick just one, Cape Town would be an odd choice
Cape Town is S.A's legislative capital. Pretoria its administrative capital and Bloemfontein its judicial capital. I agree with al the comments about the time-wasting.
