Precocious Puberty, Short Stature Etc
2 Answers
I had precocious puberty, and as a result, i am only 5.2" - which is not tiny exactly - but my bro is 6'4" and sis is about 5'8", and i have short legs so i think i would probably have been a bit taller.
but i have also noticed over the years that i have quick thick set bones, and kind of loose skin, especially noticeable on hands and neck
so i was wondering this - its an unusual thought -
is this is because, at birth, the amount of skin and bone that is predestined to grow in your body does not stop, just because you have an early puberty, and when puberty ends and your bone ends fuse solid and can no longer grow any longer, the bone actually continues to grow - but in width, thickness etc - until its done.
and also the skin, does it continue to grow as much as it intended to all along - regardless of the skeleton underneath...
any thoughts?
obviously i dont expect anyone here to know this for sure.
can anyone direct me to a site or something where i could ask people who study this kind of thing? experts etc, or tell me what i should look for?
not sure what research terms i would use.
NB: i am just curious if thats whats happened, if thats a 'thing' - i am not looking for a 'cure' or anything.
thanks
