I have been running a photo-editing programme called MG1 Photo-Suite 4 on my home PC which is still running on Windows XP.
Recently my PC became faulty with items "freezing" and having to continually re-boot it more often.
A PC friend told me that it was probably the Motherboard that was on the way out and so I went to local PC shop and told them that I wanted a brand new built PC from scratch which must have Windows XP as an operating system (32 Bit) in order to work the MGI Photo Suite 4 programme.
Several days later the PC shop got back to me and said that the installed Windows XP that they had installed kept crashing every time they installed the
MGI Photo Suite 4 Discs I gave them. Any Suggestions ?

My suggestion is DONT get a new PC built and run windows XP on it.

That would be like buying a new car but putting an engine from a 1950s Ford Anglia in it.

Install Windows 7 which does have options to run Windows XP based programs.
Cleanup your original xp by deleting history & cookies and backdating System Restore. If Photo S4 is still toublesome, delete it from Control Panel Add/Remove.

If the pc has settled re-install photoS4 & download any patches etc.
Simply forget MGI Photo Suite and use a better (free) program which will run under (say) Windows 7:

As good as the 'full' (mega-expensive versions of Photoshop (but with a steep learning curve):

A more basic photo-editing program but much more user-friendly:

Or, if you must have your ancient software, get a Windows 7 PC and install it using 'compatibility mode'. (The PC I'm using to type this has Windows 7 Pro on it but I'm still running Photoshop 6 on it, which is theoretically 'XP only', simply by using compatibility mode).
