De-Vein Prawn

just going to start cooking my M&S prawns and I don't think they have been de veined,there is black line down the middle,what is the easiest way to get rid of this.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.No real easy way, you need a sharp, small knife. Hold prawn, vein uppermost and very lightly score along it. If you don't cut through it, it is easy enough to insert the point of the knife underneath the vein and lift it out. If you do cut through then it's a bit messier. Rather boring job, but necessary as the 'vein' is the digestive tract. You may find a small triangular shape sticking out of the tail end, pull that out too.
With a cocktail stick stab through the prawn about half way along its back aiming to get under the vein. Then carefully pull upwards trapping the vein on the stick with your thumb as it comes clear. Should just pull out. This also works for shell on prawns, just use a gap between the overlapping plates.
