Find Outcome Of A Court Case

Hello!

I hope someone can help me find out about a court case due to be heard soon.

I know the person's name, birthdate, address and crime (viewing child pornograpghy).

I don't know where the case will be held and need to know the outcome so I can try and safegaurd some children this person has access to.

Where is it more likely to be held? A Crown court, Magistrates etc? Can I ring the courts to find out the outcome?

Buenchico's answer gave me the '12 month' sentence as the starting point for inclusion on the register. NJ, you seem to have better information.

Eddie51 - Yes this is why I was going to wait to see what the outcome of the court case was. Firstly to tell my friend what he was charged with which should tell her a lot anyway of the type of person whom she is mixing with. Secondly to hopefully let the other women who he has children with know to make sure they never leave the children with him on his own.

Also if he gets put on the Sex Offenders’ Register then they can look him up through Sarah's Law themselves. Thanks New Judge for letting me know about this, I do not have children but my sister has and this is very useful information for a parent.

The problem is going to be finding out when the case will be heard.
The first hearing will be at a local magistrates court, but other than going to the court each day and looking at the days court list I don't see how you can do it. Then if it is sent to Crown court it could be many months before it is heard. You may have to sit in the public gallery to find out what happened.
My own son was sexually abused by a family friend who we had allowed to stay with us when he was made homeless. I was a witness at the trial. Even then I did not have a 'right' to know what his sentence was. As I was a witness I could not sit in the public gallery.
The court clerk told me as a favour, he did not have to say anything.
He got 5 years, put on the sex offenders register, plus a ban on coming within 100 yds of our house.

I am so sorry to hear about your son Eddie51, what a horrible thing to go through for your family. Best wishes to you and your son. I cannot believe they would not allow you to know the vile man's sentence, why is the law always protecting the wrong doer? 5 years was not enough.

I have really strong feelings about people who ruin childrens lives and that is why I can't let this go knowing what I do. I cannot just do nothing if I can protect just one child it will be worth it.

Yes you are right finding out where the case will be held will be difficult I was going to ring all the courts in the area to see if someone would give me the right way of going about it.

As I work I won't just be able to turn up at the courts. Perhaps if he is convicted it will be in the local paper as hc4361 has suggested. I just wanted to get hold of some information straightaway so my friend would believe me and keep away from a man who views children as sexual beings.

Funnily enough I am trying to find someone who would be listed at Mold for June 2015 and the site says - " cases listed at 10 am Monday"
So these things are made public but not in a meaningful way that we know

If it is anything about sex it almost certainly will be reported in the Press

Thank you Peter Pedant, I am hoping it will be reported in the press. I believe the public need to be aware these people walk amongst us so we can protect our children. He may in his job (as a Postman) be befriending women with young children for the sole purpose of abuse.

I will use the links NJ has provided and call the courts too. Good luck in finding the person you need to find.

Just to add to P P's answer that is what I found, the days court case list is put up on a notice outside the court each morning but not otherwise published.
The best way may be to talk to the local paper and ask what they know. The papers have arrangements with court clerks to let them know if anything 'intresting' comes up. A postman up for child porn offences would count as 'intresting' to a paper.
You may even get a national paper intrested, 'Porno Postie' would be the sort of story The Sun or the Daily Mail would love!
I slipped a note through our local papers letter box to tell them what this person had done to my son and when the case was to be held. It worked, he got front page headlines in the local paper!

I checked the Crown Courts listings today and they do seem to list their cases online. I did ring also to ask when this person's hearing would be they said they are not allowed to give that sort of information out and I should continue checking online.

You have a point about the local papers, I will contact them as they will be able to get the correct information and decide if this case is of public interest or not. I know I deem it is serious but I am finding to my surprise that lots of people don't.
