Opinions On The Lastest 2 Everyman Crosswords ?
9 Answers
I cannot be alone in hating the 2 most recent Everyman crosswords which seem to have been compiled by someone totally lacking in the humour I have enjoyed during many years of solving the puzzle. My Sundays will never be the same if this person is not replaced as I have derived absolutely no enjoyment from what has become an irritating struggle.Let us unite and demand a return to what we love !

No idea who the new setter is but give 'em a chance .They all have to start somewhere.
You just have to get into the mind set of a new compiler .
The point of it all is to use the grey matter and put a bit of effort into it .I always found it too easy ,the new guy (or gal) makes you think a bit more.

He also sets as Falcon in ..I think .. in the FT and used to set as Ascot in The Speccie but I haven't seen a Speccie under that name for ages.

Have been doing the Everyman crossword for many years , it has always been my way of relaxing on a Sunday afternoon , unfortunately no longer as even when I get an answer it doesn't feel as if I have achieved anything , it certainly doesn't make me think "oh I get it " or make me smile wryly and say " I should have got that one sooner "
