dog/dog aggression

I have a Boxer croosed with a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Who when he is on free run he chases and will bite other dogs. Because of this he has to muzzled. He is good with other dogs that come into my house. And he is good with my sisters puppy. Can anyone Help

I had a simalar problem with my dog for a while until i bought a book called A practical guide to dog/dog aggression by Jean Donaldson, I got it from amazon its very helpfull and will help you to understand why your dog is doing it and how to stop it until then don't let him off the lead when you take him out for a walk if he lunges at another dog give a short shape shock shout LEAVE! or NO! loudly and quickly to stop him and pull him away when he walks past a dog without lunging then give him loads of praise so he gets that this is the correct behaviour. but I will say sadly you may never be able to unmuzzle him when out in public.

Have you been watching the Dog Borstal TV programme? Its been fascinating. I don't have a dog but the first thing I would do is go to dog training classes. After all you wouldn't buy a car without learning how to drive first. Your dog might attack a child - how would you feel if he did and have to be put down? It's the responsible thing to do.Good luck!

I don't think that you have read the question properly. It is not people that he is agressive to, that i can assure you. I wouldn't have taken him in if that was the case. Any way he came from a home that had children. Its the the thrill of chasing other dogs, (and has the question states he is muzzled because of this and it not taken off until he gets home) So i am being a responsible owner.

Call www.barkbusters.co.uk for a dog behaviourist! my dogs were really bad off the lead and with other dogs. I can now walk my dogs off the lead if i want and they stay by my side. Trust me "i never thought id see the day"
