Wing Mirror Light Smashed

Due to an accident driving home tonight, the mirror on the driver's side wing mirror of my car is functional, but the indicator light is out of action. Is it legal to drive?

It'll fail its MOT but I don't know if you'd be pulled for it.

Thanks - I plan on getting it fixed ASAP, but need it tomorrow - or will have to cancel appointments.

Do you still have a functioning indicator on that corner of the car like the one next to the headlamp? The mirror mounted ones are usually just to add visibility. Yes you would fail an MOT but on a day to day drive until you get it fixed you will be fine.

As others have said, you won't get stopped for it but it's technically illegal to drive with the wing-mirror-mounted indicator light out of action. (The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, Part III, Section 23 require all direction indicators with which the vehicle is fitted [both those required under the Regulations and those optionally fitted] to be fully working).

Depending on your car do not go to the Dealers, have a look on Ebay or any parts Site on Google, Not difficult job to do, about an hour.

Technically no, but as you have other functioning indicators it would take a monumental jobsworth to nick you for it.

Not sure if anyone will see this, but just to add to the saga - no second hand mirror available, had to fork out £260 just for the part :(
