My garage roof needs refelting. A friend has suggested I get done fibreglass.

A local firm is advertising it with a guarantee of 25 years which I think is a bit far fetched.

Would appreciate any thoughts on cost and quality.

I would replace the felt, If it's done right, overlapped well, Sealed on the joints, there should be no problems, how long has the old felt been on?
I had my felt roof replaced with GRP (plus other works) and was given an insurance backed guarantee for 25yrs.

Not for a garage though, it was for an extension roof.

Also, look up EPDM. It's similar to a membrane for roofing.
I had my garage roof done in GRP (fibreglass) 10 years ago. Still as good as new and 100% waterproof.
I know of traditional "built-up" flat roofs (felt and hot tar) that are still going after more than 25 years, but they were done well.

Superceded now by glass fibre amongst other things. Certainly expect a good 25 years with glass fibre as well.

Better still, a modern membrane type covering known as EPDM (Google it.)
