I have just got an ipod and worked out how to add tunes. I have paid 79p to buy a song, but when I went to open it, it was an m4p??!?!?! So basically I can't open it on Realplayer or Windows Media player, and I can't attach it or burn it. I can only listen to it on my iPod.

Am I right? I need to put it onto a CD. with Napster at least the songs end up on "My Music" as mp3s so you can actually use them.

Am I being thick??!

If you have an iPod you will have to use iTunes anyway, which is arguably better than playing them in RealPlayer or WMP.

You can burn audio cds within iTunes.

As oldhamfan says, you use iTunes with iPod. It does everything you'll want, and is miles better than Windows Media Player and especially the terrible Realplayer.

Oh and btw, don't buy from the itunes media store. As you know, it uses drm technology (the m4p bit) to protect your music. Basically it infringes your own free rights, which isn't too nice (most of the legal music download sites do this too, not just Apple).

Yes, I only bought from them cos I couldn't find the songs I needed on Napster! thanks for your help, chaps. I solved it by burning a CD, saving it to my music, in mp3.
