Think son's voice is breaking - he's 10 years old

I posted quite a few months back that my son, who is 10 had to go to see a specialist to possibly stop him growing as he had crossed over a few centiles within a short space of time, they decided not to, but he is now 5'ft4 and still shooting up.

In the last month or 2 he has constantly had a croaky throat but no throat ache, my Dad suggested his voice is starting to break, he will be 11 in November, is this how it is happens, I just don't know what to expect as I never had brothers.

yep ~ your dad seems correct in his assumptions! my son has just turned 13 and his voice has been croaky/wavering up & down since just before his birthday 5 months ago. I didn't realise it would be going on this long but my husband reckons his was the same..although it should be over & done with soon.

Your son does seem to be physically mature for his age, but some kids do grow up a lot quicker than others. Some of my sons friends are still very much 'little boys' with high voices, no pubic hair (so my son tells me!) etc. My son has had to start shaving his upper lip too. It is all very weird for me ~ he still feels like my little boy but doesn't look like it..he is around 5'4 & as I am 5'2" I have to look up to him now!

Pippa68 - Thank you very much for your reply, it is odd as you say, as he is so immature in others ways. But I can now prepare myself for the shock, he has facial hair already but I am hiding the razors for now.

thank you 10clarionst - but for a parent I suppose the latter version of events is better, means they don't grow up too quick.
