The Cameron Photographic Studio in London took images of the Good and Great. Are pictures taken in 1880s and 1890s still in copyright and if so who owns them?

Many thanks Buenchico. It can be minefield, the one I'm thinking of is 'owned' by a library and requires a fee for a copy but says I have to make sure of 'copyright'.

the library may well own a physical print and charge you for copying it. That's separate from any copyright of the person who took the photo, which, as Buenchico says, has expired.
