Am I Evil....Metallica
"She Bangs the Drum" by The Stone Roses is a simply and wonderful piece of drumming by Reni. One of my favourites.

cozy powells dance with the devil .

adam and the ants "antmusic"
waterfall stone roses
pixies wave of mutilation

sheffwed39 "Dance with the devil" wasn't an intro it was a single!
The reason I mention it is because I was going to post that "Dance with the devil" by Cozy Powell is also my favourite drum solo, even if it doesn't quite qualify for this thread.

I apologise for correcting you and I salute your taste! :)

no problem azimov i know your completely right but lets be fair it still has a great intro with the drums starting off slow and building up, i know you'll agree it is worthy of a mention. :)

2 possible choices spring to mind sandy nelsons "let there be drums(1961) or the greatest drummer ever to hit skins ginger baker "toad"whilst with cream.
She's lost control - Joy Division .... great drum intro and sound.
The theme tune to East enders, because it signals that another half hour of mind rot is finishing.
"Ballroom Blitz" - The Sweet. Not technical - just distinctive and definitive.

Best drum intro ever ? Definitely, without any doubt, 'Chinetown' by 'The Move' - Roy Wood's original band. Starts with a gong and then goes right around the kit finishing with alternating stereo-panned toms. You just can't get a better introduction than that ! Second best ? Has to be Deep Purple's 'Fireball'. Starts with the sound of a machine starting up, follow ed by only about three bars of drums, one bar of bass and thenheadlong into the song ! In third place I'd lie to put a track by 'The Glitter Band' as Gary Glitter's backing goup included two drumkits ! They never really did make full use the the stereo possibilities and anyway - I can't remember the name of the track !

Either D'Yer Maeker by Led Zeppelin which is short but sweet, or The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Cheap Trick - "Ain't That A Shame" (the live version) takes some beatin' !.
rock and roll, by led zeppelin
