I have a great deal of respect for the Gurkhas, having spent time with them during my time as a RM.
I was just watching the BBC Lunchtime News which featured them having the Site for their new memorial statue in Folkestone blessed according to their traditions.

The disappointing part was the fact that fluttering in the breeze over the location there was a Union Flag which was upside down, surely one of them should have spotted it!

Hi Baldric. My husband was in Royal Marines for 9 years in the late fifties early sixties. 42 CDO. We have so much respect for the Gurkhas. When did you serve with them ?

patsy.....my mate won the George Medal whilst serving with the Gurkhas and like your husband had great respect for them.

It may have been a mark of the distress they feel over losing so many comrades over the years.
Thanks Baldric. 42 CDO too. The best.

I noticed on the evening news the piece had been edited, there was no sign of a Union Flag.
