Hi. I have a clue from this paper of a few weeks back and hope someone can explain how it is parsed. Please be detailed as possible in explanations if possible, as I often have trouble seeing them if they are in any way oblique.
20 down: Break caused our team problems, one being netted.
The answer is HIATUS, which of course is a reak. I have seen the answer broken down as HI A T US in another thread, but I still cannot see how this clue is parsed.
Thank you in advance.

Hi. Thank you both for your speedy answers. I'm afraid it has taken me some further time to see either of them but I now see that the phrase "hit us" in the 1st answer can substitute for the phrase "caused our team problems" from the clue....as in "bad weather hit us".
The 2nd explanation was so cunning, it really should get a Professorship of Cunning, but alack, I could not find any reference to "in the hat" or maybe hatted as meaning "netted", scored or similar (except obviously that 3 goals is a hat trick).
