Is the answer to 20d "Marylebone station"? If so why? (Other than it fits my other answers!)
Also (36ac) has me stumped! "Cloud , black, oddly seen over city abroad (5). I have e*b**. The only words i can think of are "elbow", ember and "embed". But, for the life of me, i cannot see how they answer the query.

not sure why you are apologising! Thanks for the answer (which i don't think i would have got as I didn't know the double definition. Still learning....SWMBOhas ordered me to bed. Good night. And Thank you all!!!

Thanks. I missed your "good night" as I was being put down for the night. SWMBO was more than a bit annoyed with me for being up so late.
I have one more query before I finish. 37d "Release clutch, perhaps, alongside parking place"(3-2). I have L*Y*Y so the answer seems to be "lay-by which fits the parking place bit. But I can't work out the rest. AmI right and, if so, can you please explain why it fits?

Doh! Of course! Thank you to all three of you. I am used to thanking the Masters like Lie-in King and Scorpiojo but aelmpvw is (i think) new and so an especial extra thanks to him/her.
I found this crossword quite hard but that's possibly because SWMBO has not allowed me to do them during the exam season. But now real life has resumed.
So maybe I'll get better again.
Thank you, Sir. I get the results in about two weeks time, which is much better than when I was doing my AS and A levels and had to wait until the middle of August. That was cruel I felt!
I am reasonably confident about these ones. (Conceit as Mama would say)
