How can someone take a minus offer of £13000. I hate it when they do. I just hope they get knocked out, but she didn't!

Well I agree taking that offer was outrageous.

And Gromit that is outrageously rude. Where do you get off telling people to get a life? I think it myself about some people on here but would never say it. Yet again, if you weren't a mod that would get removed.
Yes, I watch the Chase, but follow it with Eggheads and am always surprised at the poor standard of knowledge and education of the "young ones."
If a team has all middle aged to elderly, then they do have a chance, but if it comprises of students (particularly medical students) then they have no chance against the Eggheads.
I agree, sqad. I thought the the answer to the question about which author took his name from the nautical term for two fathoms was easy to work out, even if you've never heard that before. The answer the contestant gave was ridiculous. I think he was a student, but I'm not sure now.
Having said that, the students on Univerity Challenge astound me with the range of their knowledge.
On the other hand, the chaser being asked what letter is between J and L in the alphabet is a joke
Cloverjo....yes.....I am not the brightest, BUT.......which constellation in the Southern Sky is known as "Greater Dog? One of the options was Canis Major and the medical student picked the wrong one.

C'mon!...........where has basic education and common sense gone?
Most of it is just general knowledge picked up through living life, sqad.
Most of the contestants would not be able to expand on their answer, no matter how old they are. Most are probably quiz night bores who have heard the question a dozen times before.

You would think being a mod would make you think twice about telling people to 'get a life'

Still he has said far worse things and yet he still lords it over other posters.
Yep, Sqad, I know...
Panky, I agree, a completely dumb question not worthy of the show. On Tipping Point on the same day a question was what is the name for a one-storey house? Please, question setters, what are you doing?
Some students are guided down a very narrow path of learning. But isn't a bit of Latin useful for medical students in particular? Don't many bits of the body have Latin names?
sandy.....they mostly have Latin or Greek derivations BUT....Canis Major? Surely one doesn't need to study Latin to guess that one.
That was John Major's sister's maiden name if I'm not mistaken.
Janice, it was Janice! You need your ears dewaxed. ☺
Well I did get to watch it, and if the two women had not talked the bloke out of his answer then they would have got another push back, still it was an interesting show.
Good point Baza, the bloke who put the most money in the pot got talked out of the right answer by two women who got the answer wrong about a woman!

Never trust them!

I don't understand this from Prudie. What's a mod? Sorry, if I sound a bit dim.
A moderator! They have the power to remove things....
Thanks Cupid. The thing that threw me was that I didn't see Gromit's response then twigged that his was the answers that had been removed. I told you I was dim.
