Benedict Cumberbatch As Rumpole?

I half heard a mention on the radio this morning that he's starring as Rumpole in a radio production of some of John Mortimer's stories. Does he have sufficient gravitas for this role? I imagine Rumpole with a gravelly voice from drinking too much Chateau Thames Embankment and smoking too many cheroots.

I think he's overrated, certainly didn't like 'Sherlock' because of him.

I think he's good but not old enough yet. I agree about Leo Mckern, he was Rumpole like Joan Hickson was Miss Marple and Alec Guiness was George Smiley.

He played a decent cardboard-cut-out-character of his acting skills in second of the Star-Trek reboot films.

Yes I think Rumpole was summed up by the actor who portrayed him before. Benedict Cumbersome is not my idea of a learned judge. I think he is over rated and not that good as an actor really. Whoever he plays he'll always look the same.

Rumpole would be turning in his grave to be described as a judge. He was a BARRISTER.

I'd want to kill my parents if I was called that.
