Cannot Access Photo Attachments

Please can anyone help. If someone sends me an email with attachments and the attachments are photos I am unable to get to the photos. If I click on to the attachment all I get is a blank window. The photos are sent with Picasa and I have Picasa installed on my Windows 8.1 laptop. If anyone can give me any advice could you please keep it in simple words. Thank you.

We won't be able to help you without some further information, so . . .

How do you receive your email? Is it by using an email client (such as Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird) or via web-based service (if so, which one)?

If you place your mouse cursor over where the attachment is shown, do you get options such as 'Open' or 'Save to hard drive'? What happens if you right-click on the attachment? (Does that give you various options?)

I get emails via Talktalk ( I think webpage.) If I hover mouse over attach nothing happens. If I R click I get the following. Open link in new tab - Open link in new window. - Open link in incognito window - Save link as..... - Copy link address - and Inspect element.

Try 'open link in new tab'. If that doesn't work, use 'save link as' to save the file to your hard drive (and then open it by double-clicking on it).
