Hi everyone.
This isn't a question but praise for the NHS.
I have posted here on AB several times re: my gallstones and am now due to have a laparoscopic cholecystectomy on Saturday. I first saw my GP about the pain on 2nd April, had an ultrasound scan 3 weeks later and saw the consultant on June 17th. I reckon that is brilliant!
You hear enough about problems with the NHS and I realise that I may have been very lucky but praise where it's due for our local hospital and my GP surgery!

Not exactly something to look forward to mazzymoo but yes indeed that sounds very reasonable time span,so nice to hear good things about the NHS for a change,best of luck for Saturday,hope all goes well and a good outcome.

I agree Mazzy. People are very quick to condemn but very slow to praise. I've had nothing but good treatment over the years from the NHS. I wish you well for Saturday. Let us know how it goes. xx

Yes, NHS are brilliant. They,ve kept a close eye on me for 11 yrs, due to bladder problem and cant praise them enough.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

best of luck maz...they will not take long in whipping them out and you will be brand new...I too am eternally grateful to the NHS for the extraordinary treatment and unfailing kind attention afforded dad and the family during the last very turbulent few years...

Yes, you are correct, this is the standard of health care that one is lead to believe is deliverable and one that you pay for, and it is often delivered, as in your case.

However the problem has been that in the past anyone who criticises the NHS is considered on this forum to be unpatriotic and to the authorites either labelled a "whistleblower" or at worst, sacked.
This has lead to unacceptable standard of health care as we saw in South Staffordshire........nobody daring to criticise.

I was looking forward to mine too :) Couldn't wait to have it taken out.

Hope you have someone around to help you after, I underestimated my recovery a bit and was a bit too optimistic and very glad to have my Mum with me afterwards. Some people seem to recover much quicker though. Not that it took me long.

Having something nice and comfortable to prop yourself up a bit on may help after while your body is getting rid of the air from the surgery and things might be a little looser on the loo while things settle so not a bad idea to "not dally" too much, especially if you are slower while recovering :)

I too have nothing but praise for the NHS.
When things go wrong it makes the news, but when things go right usually no one notices.

Why did you have to wait three weeks for an ultrasound scan ?
I now live in Switzerland and GP has ultrasound machine in his consulting room and does it on the spot if needed.
Results appear on his computer (pictures he captures).
Also blood and urine test done in surgery.
You have to wait 10 to 15 mins for machine to process blood or urine.
Once again results appear on doctors computer screen.
