GROMIT it would be classed as a fatal accident rather than a sudden death but both investigations fall under the Procurator Fiscal.
So incredibly sad and distressing for those involved in the circumstances. I hope she was maybe unconscious and just didn't know anything about it rather than being alive waiting with her partner. Just doesn't bear thinking about. I just hope there is a timely investigation and answers so as not to prolong all this any longer than necessary for the families, to hopefully get some closure and space to grieve.
Eve,

I read sh was conscious when they eventually found her, but she believed only 30 minutes had elapsed, not 4 days. I think the hospital put her into a coma, from which she didn't awake.
Keystone Jock cops
Thanks Gromit, maybe a small mercy in that then, awful thought to think she was conscious for long until they found her.
That's a sad ending to an already-tragic event.

Previous news story said she had suffered kidney damage, as a result of dehydration while trapped in the car. They could easily have put her on a dialysis machine so it must have been other internal injuries which meant she couldn't survive the induced coma.

In the previous thread, I speculated that the witness could have been making a one-off pass through the area, ie a trucker rather than a local commuter. No opportunity for them to see that the report had not been actioned and everyone else had their eyes on the road, overlooking the scene.

Hmm. I don't want to go all Sherlock but cannot help wondering if the witness was more closely involved than they are admitting? How come they could see this car off the road but all other passing traffic did not?

This is truly dreadful. She appears to have suffered severe dehydration, leading to fatal kidney failure. This has to be the direct result of being left so long. Her boyfriend may also have survived (I don't know about his injuries) if they had been attended to promptly. Lots of questions to be answered here.
Lot of answers needed here as to the failure to log the incoming call.....The Scots police chief for the area has apologised but this needs bottoming out, questions about the effectiveness of these secondary numbers for emergencies - there are enough concerns on the NHS front alone to trigger a major review to the effectiveness of this system.
Confidence wasn't high for various reasons within Police Scotland but it has now reached an all time low. That's not a knee jerk reaction, I have a friend who retired last year (for reasons of my own I won't say which rank he retired from) and he has lamented the demise directing it solely towards MR S House for months now.

I know no-one here who is backing the Police....there will be some deluded people who do but they ought to realise that the Police have a duty of care, they're paid well to sit in lay-bys and eat their doughnuts.

This won't go away.

On a final note my heart truly aches for the victims families, they'll be haunted for life, it beggars belief.

A lot of this story doesn't quite ring true ...... as someone else said the person who reported the accident told the police about the car crashing - do you think he/she was involved in the accident or even maybe caused it - that is why they didn't stay until the emergency services arrived. Surely they wouldn't just drive by without checking they were ok - if they did, either they were callous or maybe had something to hide? Hope the police got their details .......
But the main factor is why wasn't the incident attended by the police straightaway? Very very sad story ..................
Ann...the history is true.
The Ploice have verified it.

No-one is to blame bar the Polis...hard as it may be to swallow it's true.

Mistakes were made, two people are dead.

There's no conspiracy theories.

Sadly it's that simple...believe me.
The original call will have been recorded so it'll become clear during the investigation who called it in and what the circumstances were. Even if they blocked their number (I.e. If they were tried to hide as they were involved in the accident) then calling 999 or 112 overrides number blocking in any case. Bound to have been a trucker passing through and the elevated cab position afforded a view of the crashed car.
There are 3 ongoing enquiries. Common How difficult can it be ?
the person who called it in on the sunday has now come forward.

Sadly he now feels he bears part of the guilt - what a tragic situation all round.
Did the man who made the first phone call actually witness the car going off the road or did he just see it without knowing how long it had been there?
