The man who raped me got four years and served two and a half. He had previously been arrested for sexual assault, but she wouldn't take it to court. Obviously a dangerous man, whose crimes had started with shoplifting, then burglary, then assaulting a police officer, then sexual assault, then my rape. His offences were getting worse as they went along and it's hard to understand why he was released after only two and a half years, when it seems apparent that he would eventually ascend to worse offences.
My Mum worked for the then DSS and saw his name when he signed on after leaving prison. That's how I know how long he served, after being assured by the Bedford police that he would serve the full term.
Nine years for raping a six year old is a joke. It sends a message to men like the ones arrested in Rotherham, that they will get soft sentences, so they'll just carry on with their vile practices. It's no wonder that so many girls still wont come forward and report being raped, when their attacker will be back on the streets in a couple of years.
