Someone I know works for the local council and always seems to be on holiday. How many days are council workers actually entitled to please? Assume it depends what kind of job you are in. This person is in the education department.
Probably more than the statutory minimum but closer to the average- maybe 28 days plus public holidays at a guess. they may also be able to build up flexitime holidays by working longer- maybe 1 day a month. But if they are in education they may get some of school holidays depending on their role. Don't assume they get paid for school holidays though
I don't work for the council, but everyone I work with thinks I get more hoidays than they do. I get the same number of holidays as they do, I take unpaid leave in addition to my annual entitlement.
If the person you know is in the education department, perhaps s/he gets school holidays. Why don't you just ask her/him?
Increasinglly, non-teaching staff are employed during term time only. So for example if you take a part-time contract, term time only.......
Payment is pro-rata, so unlike teachers these contracts do not provide pay for school holiday periods.
But why not just ask them?
