Hi all
can anybody tell me if its legal in the building regulations if you are allowed to let the rainwater from the main roof guttering on a house to discharge into the foul sewerage manhole or does it have to discharge into the storm water drain that is present but has been covered
look forward to your replies
thanks

My roof rainwater goes into the same drain as my bathwater and household waste water but I am not sure that the sewage goes into it....
Water Companies don't like rain and surface water going into the foul drains.

But ............ if that is an existing arrangement, then it's Ok to continue this. You'll need to inspect your rainwater gullies to see if they do indeed connect to the sewer.

It does sound as though you have a separate rainwater drain though; not a combined drain. If so, then it'll have to be used I'm afraid.
If your set up at the moment means that surface water does not go into the sewage system, then you possibly wont be billed for it.If you divert a downpipe into a sewer then you may incur a charge for such on your water charge........if they find out!!
