While David Cameron's speech on "One Nation, One "United kingdom" was described as "one of the most significant recent interventions on this issue by a Western leader",

My stance has not changed and nothing yet gives me the confidence to do so
since FEB 2015.
// I wouldn't want them behind me with a SA80. Even a pick and shovel would be a risk. Do we not recall the rogue Afghan Army men who were shooting our chaps in the F.O.P. whilst they were sleeping and shooting RAF Regiment sentrys in the back. No Muslims at the moment in the armed services please. Our own government have placed enough restrictions and worries on our men and women what with Rules of Engagement etc. Why should they be burdened with extra worries.?//

"Then what do you suggest the cause is?"
I'll have a go, AOG: (1) a sense of alienation caused by the way Muslims have been mistreated and marginalised by the wider British society; (2) our and the US's support for tyrannical and corrupt Middle Easter regimes; (3) military adventures in Islamic countries; (4) our past history of colonialism.
Why these genuine grievances don't provoke other immigrant communities (who've suffered similar injustices at our hands, but are NOT Muslim) to the same violent reactions remains, of course) a mystery. Some clue as to the explanation for this enigmatic disproportion may be found in the responses to the Cameron speech by The Muslim Council of Britain and The Ramadhan Foundation cited in the second link in the OP.

Well obviously we'll have to agree to disagree, then, retrocop, and thanks svejk for that :P
Returning to the OP, I'll keep my mouth shut for now as I've not actually seen Cameron's speech. If I remember I'll try to look at it this evening. But in terms of the quote from the independent:
/// “Everyone in this country, Muslims included, must have a right to express their view no matter how intolerant they are." ///
That may be true, but if a view really is intolerant then everyone else has a right to point that out and challenge it. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that opinions have a right to go unchallenged.

Sadly Jim you're a product of modern education. Your naivety in certain subjects shines out of some of your posts like a beacon. Muslims could not exist in this Country if they were openly aggressive. For every nice friendly one you meet, how many unfriendly ones are in the Family just waiting for the call?
But then that implies that there are nice friendly Muslims after all, no?
I don't care how naive it sounds, it is fundamentally wrong to distrust someone based solely on what they look like, or what religion they are, without knowing them personally. I'd far rather be naive than prejudiced and paranoid.
