I am seeing an awful lot of roundabouts, where the Council have sown some wild flower seeds...poppies, etc. It looks so pretty as you drive past and it must be good for wildlife.

Is this being done all around the country of just here in South Wales ?

Baldric:
Within a week of passing my driving test I found myself in Colchester. This is just what a new driver wants to see (er, not!)

'Halt' signs largely disappeared from our roads nearly half a century ago, when the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions came into effect in 1965.

Well before the UK joined the European Economic Community, we were well on our way to adopting road signs based upon those found on mainland Europe, so we now have these:

Do you think you could manage the Parisian roundabout in my video above?
I don't see how anyone could go wrong in Swindon

No, Chris, I couldn't handle that or any of the others posted on here. When I was a young gaffer in England eons ago, the signs said "HALT" and I think "THROUGH ROAD AHEAD".
A bit like this really!

Stuey - you should try the 'magic roundabout' in Hemel Hempstead. One big roundabout with 6 mini roundabouts - one at each road junction going into the big one - now that really is confusing! A must to avoid.
Margo....I found that roundabout very easy to use.
Ummmm - to be fair I haven't been around it for years now but I was a novice driver when I first did and it frightened the hell out of me then. I was on my own and hadn't a clue where I was - which didn't help!

The Local Authorities in Kent go to great lengths to make our roundabouts interesting!

Baldric:
That was clearly a lorry driver taking his test. The examiner said "When we come to the roundabout, I want you to go straight on" ;-)
The same in Lanc's Mikey.
As well as some beautifully planted up roundabouts in Bolton,we have large planters on the roadside barriers at many main junctions.

Sure brightens up a few minutes wait at a red light.

I am so glad that these urban meadows are everywhere in Britain. They really buck me up when I see them, and the wildlife must be thankful.
