Have a dreadful problem with limescale which results in replacing washing machine kettle etc. Is there a home made recipe which would work out cheaper than calogen .

Thank you all in advance

I put a tablespoon of soda crystals in the powder drawer of my washing machine which helps to soften the water and negates the need for fabric softener. I also use white vinegar to de scale my kettle and shower head.
I throw some white vinegar into the soap drawer when it's pulling water.
I put the wire mesh balls in my kettle. Certainly seems to help. I live in a very hard water area, full of chalk.
Janbee I'm near you and I have to strain the water through a tea strainer as it comes out of the kettle. Lumps of chalk in it two weeks after descaling!
Forgot to add, yes, soda crystals in the washing machine help.
