I am off to Tennessee for a couple of weeks. The temperature there is currently in the nineties. Is it wise to take a mossie repellant.

It's probably best to spray yourself before you get on the plane and then buy some of the local brew when you get there.

If you are bitten, run a teaspoon under the hot tap and press it on the bite, Hurts like hell for a second or two but kills the 'itching' agent in the mossie's saliva and stops it irritating, instantly. Really does work - tried it in Turkey recently.
very much so get yourself insect repellent - I was tortured - here they have a I think called Jungle Juice (something like that but it was good). I used it every day and never got bit - on the day we were travelling home I forgot to use it and was ate alive. Get something definitely.
