Am mildly allergic to wasp/bee stings - was stung on hand yesterday morning by wasp or hornet. hand was very hot and swollen yesterday but today the swelling has gone about 4 inches up my arm too. have had lymph nodes removed from under my arm this side. have taken loratadine. had very, very bad cellulitis on other arm last time I was stung. am a bit worried about this arm because of possible lymphodema. have cold compress on all the time. do I go to A&E or wait for GP tomorrow? appreciate any advice - thank you

might be worth ringing the NHS line or going to see the on duty chemist ,hope it feels better soon xx
Not a very good past history rsvp...........cellulitis following previous wasp sting and now stung on the arm which has no lymph nodes in which to combat any infection.

I would go to A&E this morning as they may want to give you a steroid and antibiotic injection.
Have you got a walk in centre near you you could get to? Maybe one tagged on to a hospital (we have one here) so you are close if you need A&E.

You could draw round the marking as it is now with a pen and note the time so they can then see if it increases and the time frame in case it's cellulitis.

I had a rapid spreading one from a bite last year I think it was, went right up my leg quite quickly. It was on a weekend and I went to the hospital walk in centre and got antibiotics which sorted it.

I have no idea about the lymph gland issues though, but hopefully Sqad will be about soon.

Hope it's all ok.
Ah, posted too soon! Hope you get it sorted.

I'll go back to my Otex drops now the expert is here ;)

Thank you all for the very prompt and helpful answers - as you didn't suggest two Ibroprufen and speak to you in the morning sqad, will follow your advice and take myself off to A&E. Very grateful for the advice.

Thank you everyone - am away to A&E now.
Eve I am very much assuming you live in Northern Ireland if so where is your walk in centre . Thanks
Sorry RSVP - hope you are ok .
I thought Eve lived in Manchester.....?
Sorry then Sqad - just did think Eve lived in NI - that's ok.
Hi, no I live in Manchester :) My local hospital has a walk in centre right next to A&E where out of hours docs operate too. Has been handy before as if they say you need A&E it's right next door. Also useful for A&E to redirect those better served by a walk in. They have great nurses too. I went there for both of my cellulitis', as put of hours, and they were great. I didn't have the added complication RSVP has though. They dealt with my gallbladder removal wound opening up too. In fact I went there first when I had acute cholecystitis as my friend rang outbid hours docs, was rapidly sent to A&E for that though.
Out of hours even, on my phone and can't see the text as well :) Let us know how you get on RSVP, hope you don't have too long if a wait to be seen.

update on my fat hand - many, many thanks to all and as the lovely sqad said, my history on this sort of thing isn't good so go to A&E - just got back armed with antibiotics and a list of instructions. The swelling etc got appreciably worse as the morning wore on but have had two lots of the antibiotics now and things are improving. Sqad I probably wouldn't have gone had you not suggested it was the wisest course of action so thank you very, very much. And to everyone else who sent advice and get better wishes, aren't you all brilliant!!!, thank you. Am off to walk the hound now, will catch up later.
Thanks for the feedback.

Yes.....you are correct.......I am lovely;-)
