Katie Hopkins questioned by the police for inciting racial hatred, and now teachers threatened if they tell their pupils that same sex marriages are wrong.

Yet certain Muslim preachers are allowed to rant against homosexuality.

Which Muslim preachers?

I'm sure you're right that there are Muslim preachers who rant as much as their Christian counterparts, but I've not seen any stories - apart from the one about Sheikh Haitham al-Haddad, but he made his comments abroad, and students at WU (rightly, in my opinion) launched a petition against him speaking there.

But well done for speaking up on gay rights AOG.

Teachers should stick to the national curriculum instead of spouting their personal beliefs onto children.
Outside the classroom, they can say what they want.

Looks like those anti terrorism laws are being abused again. They need to be scrapped and redrafted.

I think so...AOG posts more questions about gay rights than anyone on AB. I'm sure this question is based on his quest for equality for gay people.

The thrust (as I see it) of the question is that ALL people who attack gay people, whether Muslim, Christian or whatever, should be dealt with severely by existing legislation.

I totally agree with him on this.

I think I may agree with sp1814 but do wonder why the militant gay rights groups only seem to single out, say Christian Bakers or B&B owners, never 'homophobic Muslim businesses or organisations. Wait until the new Extremist Disruption Order is created. Will it be an Islamist firebrand preacher or a Catholic Sunday School Teacher opposed to gay marriage who is arrested?

Militant gay rights groups?

I didn't see that with the case of the B&B owners. That was a genuine case of a couple of ordinary blokes in their 60s who went on a holiday and only found out that the Christians were extremists when they arrived.

I think the problem here is - these 'militant gay groups' (as right wing papers and commentators like to describe gay people who demand not to be treated as second class citizens) recognise that some people like nothing more than one minority attacking another.

It's like when the EDL tried to inveilge itself into a rally against Muslim extremism and homophobia in the East End back in 2011.

You may not have read about that - the national papers didn't pick up on it (adopts a look of shock and surprise).

But back to AOG's point - he's 100% right...whether Christian, Muslim, Hindu or Jew - whatever you want to believe in your house of worship, most of us have no problem with what you believe behind closed doors...just don't ram it down our throats.

Gay Rights activists are really missing a trick when it comes to the Islamic stance on Homosexuality. This is down to either they are fearful of being accused of not being culturally sensitive to Muslims or are afraid of possible violent repercussions against them.

As Islam is growing in the UK and its doctrine opposes Homosexuality, then that is where the biggest threat against 40-50 years of social reform and changing attitudes to same sex relationships is coming from.

Christianity is a fairly 'soft target' in comparison, easy to criticize with no real danger of accusations of racism or fear of reprisals. Gay Rights activists are pretty much 'preaching to the converted'....
