many thanks to you for the reply,the added info requested is a; wall mounted ,fan assisted ,room sealed, gas fired comination boiler.as i said it allows the rdiators to heat up but i cannot get hot water to the tap in the kitchen and bathroom.i have tried to switch the controls to hot water only,but no joy.once again i appreciate your time to answer this post your very kind.

tomestone, Sounds as though the diverter valve has packed up. Suggest you contact a competent heating engineer to check the boiler.
