Thanks everyone...need to put a first class stamp on this now, as it has to be in by Thursday.

On another point...does anyone have any idea how many entries these newspaper crosswords get on average every week ?

I have won the Sunday Times on 3 occasions over 5 years and an assortment of others, but I guess it comes down to luck in the end, for your winning entry to be picked out of the hat.
Thousands Mikey

Yeah...you are probably right Danny !

The one I would most like to win is the Saturday i paper, as I need another DAB radio ! Actually, one day last summer, I thought I might have won, as I had a phone call from a very nice chap from the paper, but no....all he wanted to do was to sell me a subscription. When I told him that I couldn't possibly do that, as I was a Guardian Reader, he seemed a bit put out, but promised me that it wouldn't effect my future chances of winning !
If you're a guardian reader, Mikey, whattcha doing reading The Times?
/// he seemed a bit put out, but promised me that it wouldn't effect my future chances of winning !///

i'd put money on you not winning it mikey :-)
^ capital G there!

Tilly...yes I agree, well a bit anyway !

The Sunday Times isn't the paper it was back in the 60's and 70's, that's for sure. I used to look forward to the literary and Arts reviews, but its mostly pop music these days. Its probably a debatable point but I think it has gone down-market over the years. I am not sure if the newspaper that campaigned so successfully for the Thalidomide victims is still around any more. harold Evans is long gone, worse luck.

But I really only get the Times these days for the crosswords. When I am in my caravan, I sometimes find copies discarded in the bins on a Monday morning, thus saving me some money !

aelmpvw....the i paper does represent very good value for money, so I might just as well keep trying I suppose !
Blimey, Mikey! You must be desperate if you have to rummage in dustbins.
Question Author
Tilly...apart from the i, papers cost so much these days ! And if all I want is the bit with the crossword in, it seems daft to spend all that money every weekend. Add the high cost of postage, it can be very expensive.

I would ask my neighbours but I live in a firmly "Sun" and "Star" area I'm afraid !
