I discovered last night if someone sends me a Facebook message from a mobile and I click on the message then a google map appears with their precise location, this cannot be right, just how do you turn off this feature, It does not happen if the message comes via 'The web'

One switch for blanket on/off
Multiple per-App switches but only after the App has been used at least once and had occasion to interrogate the GPS location.
For youngsters or others who are vulnerable but curious enough to muck around in the settings menu, it is possible to lock out access to the privacy submenu, which thus protects the location services submenu.
I have not needed to learn how to do that, myself but it will come under umbrella of Parental Controls settings.
