Are you sure 'synejoss' is the correct spelling? I ask because if it was 'singers' - pronounced singe-ers - it would rhyme with 'gingers' and that would at least make some sense re redheads.
(I referred above to the word 'singe' in the sense of 'burn slightly'.)
