I don't think so. The memory of the SDP is still fresh in the minds of some people. For Corbyn to win he will have to breach the 50% barrier on the first round otherwise he will lose, as he will be either people's first or last choice - no in between. Should he win there are still those in the background, such as the Prince of Darkness, who could easily destabilise him. He strikes me as being so naive that he would not last very long. So far he has not displayed the cunning of Blair, Mandelson et al.
Question Author
why would he be first or last JD?
It's not 'IF' it's when. It's a foregone conclusion . Even the bookies have paid out on him winning.
By my thinking those who put one of the other three candidates as first choice will select the other two as their second or third choices. I can't imagine anyone making Cooper (Mrs Balls) their first choice then Corbyn their second.
Doubt many would notice if they did.
Hopefully.

About 20 years ago Labour was infiltrated by centre right soft Tories, and they haven't really recovered from that handicap, which is why they have lost the last two General Elections.

The sooner those people leave the Labour Party, the sooner the Party can again reconnect with their core voters.

But its why they won 3 before !!
As I have said before. Corbyn will be the caretaker. Labour will prep itself for a 2025 election with a Middle England friendly leader(with no Blarite/Bottler links) that will wipe the board as the electorate will be bored with the Tories (and they will be tired anyway by then).
Read the lead story in the Evening Harold about the 'Bread Lion' and look at the last paragraph of the full story (yes it is relevant )
I nearly choked on my coffee laughing

They really seem to have a 'thing' about Corbyn
No I don't think that the Labour Party will split
I certainly won't be leaving and I have not and never would vote for Mr Corbyn
