Meeting New People
24 Answers
My mum moved to York a year ago and she's struggling to make new friends and meet people. She's only 60 years old and single but has no real hobbies and has become a bit set on her ways. She didn't want to move but ill health made it necessary.
I've signed her up to local cinemas and libraries and suggested short courses etc to try and get her to meet people but to no avail.
She wants to meet people but I think has got so used to spending time alone.
Any ideas of any groups/clubs/websites etc that I can suggest to her? I think once she meets someone it will spur her on

The people at my local church are really friendly, and I help out serving a light meal every three months, and serving coffee occasionally. I'm 74, and fortunately not disabled, although not as active as I would like. I think there is plenty out there, it's just making that first move. Best of luck to her, anyway. xx
