Does being nude bother you? Be it in the privacy of your own home with just your partner about or in a more public sense?

I've been having a chat with a friend who's confession that she showered just using her hands was met with some shock by someone.

I am really quite bemused with the attitudes some have towards their own bodies.

Why are some so hung up about their natural state, or is it a further example of Larkin's poem?

Oh I agree loofahs are all wrong
I wouldn't strip off with anyone but my husband present - and I don't want anyone else's bits and pieces imposed on me either. I hate communal changing rooms.

I don't understand the connection between the question and whether or not one uses hands, flannels, or sponges in the shower.
Me & Gness do it every Sun.

I acknowledge it wasn't the most cohesive of questions Naomi.

I suppose it was a general question about people being comfortable in their skins and feeling no shame about being naked or touching themselves in a non-sexual way.

Like you do when watching Coronation street?
Ah right. I find it quite sad that anyone would be ashamed of washing their own bodies with their own hands.
I grew up with two older sisters, and no-one had any issues with seeing anyone else naked. Anyone could and would use the toilet or basin whils someone else was in the bath or shower.

The present Mrs Hughes has a rather shyer approach, but we are perfectly comfortable being nude around each other – have been since we started going out (not that we go out nude!)

I tended to keep myself private when the girls were growing up, but I did all the baths until they were about nine, then I taught them to wash their hair and bathe properly, and haven’t seen them nude since.

My granddaughter is now well past the age of being bathed, and the boys are still pretty much OK about being nude when they share baths at ours.
I don't like being nude now, but when I was younger my friends I would wander in to use the loo while one of us was in the shower, when we were on holiday or getting ready to go out.
I don't use a flannel or sponge at all.
In my job it was a right of passage to go skinny dipping with my colleagues (usually after copious amounts of alcohol). I would probably still do it if the opportunity presented itself. I don`t feel comfortable parading around the house naked though. It just feels a bit wobbly and uncomfortable.
Strangely, as comfortable as I am in the nip, I just cannot go to bed without something on, and I absolutely have to have a cover.
My hubby is like that rockyracoon but in hot weather, I like to be bare and no sheets on me.
I use a scrunchie thingy in the shower as it spreads the bubbles further, but I have also just used my hands and have no problems about nudity (even fewer when I was younger and had fewer floppy bits - I still don't have that many!). As first an artist and then, later, an athletics coach, bodies are simply objects of interest of varying sorts to me.

I sleep in the nude, but Mr. J2 prefers to keep his underpants on - he's older than I and more an engineer than a weirdo - OK, no prob. each to his ow. (I can soon get them off if necessary!)
Tonyav - I feel as if I should dip my face behind a fan and flutter my eyelashes bashfully at you - in fact I shall do that right now! there. :)x
I used to be ok with being naked around OH when I was younger. But now I have put weight on and look as if I need ironing I keep covered up. It's not that easy as we both sleep in the nuddy! I have become quite an expert at covering up though.
Oh dear I always shower with my hands
I think it must be a man thing

and yes I do worry about nudity in the house as I have sticky neighbours; children playing outside who seem to get everywhere - and THAT to use todays news is a Harvey Proctor thing
HATE being nude (except for certain activities) and I don't have body issues either. I think being nude makes me feel quite vulnerable.

It could be down to being brought up in a large male dominated family. That said my sister, who is rather large, has no issues with nudity.
being nude in my own home doesn't bother me, or anywhere else for that matter as long as i have privacy.
what bothers me is other peoples nekkiness being foisted on me - the gym & communal changing rooms, i head for one of the two cubicles. the lady who bends over to dry her legs throughly showing us what she had for breakfast in the process - that's just too much. Worst was when someone i work with insisted on having a conversation with me whilst she was starkers. a/ i didn't want to see her naked and b/ don't talk to me, not at that time of the morning.

fluff, you've brought back the memory of the lady in the changing room who offered us all a feel of her recently enhanced boobs!

She seemed rather put out when everyone declined the offer.
Maybe its how people are brought up that makes them afraid of showing their naked bodies. My mother was horrified to see me come out of the bathroom while my husband was taking a bath and I'd been sitting chatting to him - she said she'd never do that with my father!!!
