Well, the veterinary nurses looked after it and waited until it was in good health before releasing it. They could not trace the owner from the rings as the numbers were not conventional. So, once it had gained weight and its tail feathers were back in shape, they released it and.........

it's back in our garden!

This one doesn't, jomfil. Obviously, not a racing pigeon. I don't know what it is. Neither do the veterinary nurses. It's a lovely pigeon, though and it's back with us.
Coo! You're a new mummy
Has Tilly bonded with it?
Fodder for peregrines :-)

Delighted for you Tilly, sometimes we get new arrivals in our gardens cos fate meant them to be there! Speaking from an example, our cat radiated to us because she was being badly bullied by a sibling brother. We took her in and she is now ruling the roost and we just abide by it;-)
Tilly you have a new baby! If you contact a pigeon club or RSPB or somesuch, they might be able to tell you what the markings on the ring are.
