Does anyone know of any common problems with 206 power steering ? My HDi (2001) has occasionally heavy steering - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't at all. The fluid is clean and up to the level marked. But apart from that I don't know what to check. Its been to the main dealers and a specialist who couldn't "find" any fault.

You don't say which model it is. If it has air conditioning, using this to the maximum can sometimes affect the operation of the power steering, apparently.

Same with aircon switched on or off.

check up on the specks. some power sterring problems occur because as a daft as it sounds a faulty alternater. if their is a prob in charging system. well go to http://carfurn.bulldoghome,com and email and i will get back to you free of course
