My Peugeot 206 was running fine one evening. I parked it up at my girlfriends dads and when i went to drive home it would not start.
we tried starting it only a few times with no luck.

I called the recovery service and he told me that the cam shaft had gone, and the valves might be bent.
The belt is still on and has not snapped.
we have taken some covers off to expose the twin cams and they turn to a certain point then they jam/slip.

my farther in-law is pretty good with cars (i know nothing) and we are after advice as to whether the valves are bent or if the timing could be out as the marks are in different place.

if you need to know any more information then i would be more then happy to provide it.

Any help would be greatly received.

many thank

Only way to know is to take the cylinder head off and have a look. But if the cam shaft has broken it is almost certain the valves are damaged. Looks like a replacement engine is the cheapest option.
By the way the cam belt and the cam shaft are 2 diffrent things. The cam belt drives the camshaft from the engine main bearing.
could be the cam belt has slipped a tooth or two on the pulleys, probably the cam belt tensioner has gone slack.
It sounds like the cambelthas jumped the teeth the result is the same as the belt snapping you need the special tool to check this out ,always change your cambelt on or before the stated milage ,if itsan older model bestjunk it and buy another car the repair costs for Renaults are horendus !
