a man burgles a jewlers, after meticulously planning the heist and gets locked in the safe, its a very clever film, circa early 1960's its French B/W someone out there must know what its called!

I don't know what it's called but it does seem distinctive of crime films (maybe comedies) at this time where the criminal always gets his comeuppance.
