I know this is the wrong place to post this but I could do with your help! This is my final design: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/720 23FINAL_DESIGN-med.jpg for my college second year project on 1920s clothing. Now - - this is going to be showcased on a catwalk in june next year and I do NOT want it looking cheap or tacky, so for the fur, I don't want to spend 1.99 on that horrible fraying cheap rubbish that seems to be the only thing you can actually buy in the 'fur' department...! As you can see in the picture I want it quite long fur, and I don't think short fur will look so nice, but the only nice long fur I can find is bright orange and pink..! I was wondering if anybody was aware of a shop, online or, not that sells good quality faux fur that's not too expensive (as I'm a student!). If not, is there such thing as brown marabout feathers? I have come across afew websites but no luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated..! Lou xx

loukr, cant open your page but have you considered looking in a charity shop, some of the stuff can be of really good quality and immaculate, maybe you could get something there and adapt it using you skills.

-Sorry to be negative but I think you should re-consider the pleated skirt which doesn't look very original to me (and I'm MALE!) What if you tried some kind of diagonal pattern for the skirt? I feel that to get somewhere in fashion design you MUST show originality?
Question Author
Matheous this design is BASED on 1920s fashion, thus needs to have some sort of connection with the 20s but made contemporary, which is why I will cut the fabric on the bias which creates the 'pleats', as this technique was come across in the 20s along with the dropped waist and pattern on the waist trim... also, the diagonal cut of the dress will be made into a hankerchief hem, to show 1920s inspiration again.

Luckilly in a couple of months time I'll be able to choose my own theme so it shall be full of originality! :D xx
Try charity shops for real fur.
I would definitely look in charity shops and possibly at carbon sales as you may be able to find something unable there but i suggest looking online and in department store sales. I also hope you don't mind me posting this but i really need to get some answers as i have to present my findings next week
