I really do not know where to post this question but -
if you 'unfriend' someone on Facebook are they notified? I have a friend I wish to keep as a friend but on Facebook she is a nightmare - she 'shares' many boring videos every day. I don't want to upset her but it is annoying.

no, they are not notified, but they may find out if they looking you up for some reason and find they are not friends with you

No need to 'unfriend' - you have the option to 'unfollow' so her posts don't appear on your timeline.

Hi Sandmaster,
Instead of 'unfriending' your friend, why not just 'unfollow' her, this way she won't keep showing up in your newsfeed :)

HC beat me to it, but yes, that’s the better option. On the top right of your friend’s posts you’ll see a small downward arrow. Click that, and ‘unfollow’ is one of the options.
