Don't anyone tell me they are all asylum seekers, they are not. Why are they covering their faces and throwing rocks at the police?

“Hungary is now treating these refugees like criminals.”

Svejk is quite correct, Mikey. Ignoring the violence and criminal damage many have committed they have all entered foreign nations “without leave”. As I have explained countless times, refugees are only granted immunity from such an offence if they present themselves without delay to the authorities in the first safe country they reach. All those on the Hungarian border fail that test. They have undoubtedly passed through Turkey (a safe country and a member of NATO). They will then also have passed through at least two other countries where they will not be under any particular threat.

These people are not seeking safety. They have already found it. They ceased to be refugees as soon as they let Turkey. They are seeking a destination of their choice and it doesn’t work like that. They are now learning what they should have been taught when this invasion first began – that free access to Europe is not available to them. The fault lies with the EU and its ridiculous free movement arrangements and the individual countries who have ushered the migrants across their borders.
"Its just good old racism and xenophobia."

I think this comment is disgusting, who exactly is/are these racist and xenophobes?.
Can anyone see an end to all this? It's horrendous.
Different situation Gav. Maggie forced devastating change destroying communities rather than allowing gradual change where and only where necessary: forcing folk who would prefer to remain in the community they were to move elsewhere in their own UK. Basically she was spreading misery because she wanted quick change and felt it wasn't a concern how those affected felt. She didn't seem to believe in the strength of society; but in a help yourself, we don't care philosophy.

In this present situation the conflict already exists and the folk actually wish to leave the danger behind: and see an opportunity to better their economic situation be flaunting the humane rules agreed to help refugees, and demanding to be an immigrant to another country of their choice, regardless whether the country they wish has any need for further population.

I don't see the two situations as being particularly comparable.

The threads or the migration, Tilly?
//When Thatcher closed the mines //
gavmacp, what the hell has Mrs Thatcher and 1973 got to do with this? You surely cant be suggesting that we house all the ''refugees'' in the old coal mines.
It's all worth it when you see how grateful they are at their destination of choice;

Please can we remember that these people should not even be at the Hungarian border? Refugees, economic migrants or whatever they are - who wants violent, aggressive people like that in their country?

Been an appeal in local churches for clothing for migrants 'especially for men' - most people seem to feel that donating male clothing is not something they want to do. As it happens, we don't have spares (we cleared out and donated to charity before we moved) but I wouldn't give male clothing.
Well said jourdain2, the scenes at the hungarian border should convince any right-minded person that these people , the'refugees', are unlikely to make good citizens. For the most part young and Muslim- and we know how well they integrate- they should be under arms and fighting to save their country not scrounging off us. Gauleiter Merkel did no one any favours when she opened the door.
“When Thatcher closed the mines she believed that industry would move to these places as there would be many workers. More importantly people would move to where there was industry. Isn't it as simple as that just on a global scale.”

Firstly, more mines were closed under Labour administrations than were closed under Mrs Thatcher’s. But leaving that aside, the main difference is that people are entitled to move from Barnsley to London without having to gain permission. They are not entitled to move from Damascus to Stockholm, assaulting the police and breaking down fences that happen to hinder their progress.
Hope the penny drops and the migrants see that there is no accommodation for them all. They are demanding entry into countries, who would want them after seeing scenes like that in Hungary today? I just hope call me Dave takes the hint and closes all our borders too; and that the Border control throughly checks the health and the credentials of those who are being allowed here. Give them free passage home it will be safer there than the aggro they are getting in Europe. I wonder many ISIS terrorists will have managed to infiltrate amid the mayhem.

The idea is that if Hungary doesn't let them in from Serbia, Serbia will decide to stop more coming in to Serbia, and so on until those in Turkey and then Syria etc realise that there is no easy route across. Too many countries have waved people through encouraging them to go to the next country when they should be enforcing the rules about registering and considering asylum applications.
Germany has been generous but is now realising it can't cope and there is
a backlash now in Germany. If Germany really does want them why doesn't it just offer free flights from Turkey- or maybe even Syria if Assad allows it.

One final thought- have Russia offered to accommodate any?

It's about time someone stood up to them and said NO!
