Waterproof digital camera

I'm a complete technophobe, and am going on holiday which involves getting wet a lot (but not a diving holiday). I know Pentax make one, does anyone else, are they worth it, and can I get one on the high street?

I saw this article on the gadget show a couple of weeks back in it reviews 3 underwater cameras but also mentions other ways of protecting normal cameras.
