those that conceived this clearly had no concept of what the removal of such a large body of water will do to the climate.

If the water extracted from the Med could be desalinated it might be used to turn the Sahara into a fertile land as it was in Roman times.
Before draining they would have to block off the Atlantic.

And the Suez Canal would become redundant. But aren't they minor problems?
I don't think blocking off the Atlantic could be described as a minor problem.

These things look easier to do on paper than they would be in reality. That's probably why the plan was pigeonholed for so long.
drain !! think ya mean pumped ,hows it going to drain when it's level with what ever area chosen, cant see and massive depressions around there to take it

We tamper with nature at our peril. The Soviet regime diverted the rivers that fed the Aral Sea to water cotton fields and the sea nearly disappeared.
Bonkers if you ask me !
Imagine if the migrants could just walk across the Med!
