Limescale in the Loo

Best way to clean out the limescale at the bottom of a quite-new loo, please. It is starting to look a bit grubby .. yuk Vinegar doesnt work not does limescale cleaner. Anything stronger out there ?

In order of strength - phosphoric acid (grout remover sold by tiling specialists), dilute hydrochloric acid (brick cleaner sold by larger DIY places). Neither attacks porcelain but may attack metal fittings (toilet seat hinge) so avoid getting it on these parts. Both dissolve calcium carbonate, the chemical name for limescale.

I'm sure I saw Kim and Aggie use cola for cleaning the loo, just googled and found this tip - might be worth a try? Are you trying to do it with the water still in, best thing is to keep pushing the water back until it is nearly empty and then tackle the limescale with one of the limescale removers like Calgon ....

Hi everyone, well I tried Cola and it just made the stain darker! Then I tried loads of Waitrose Appliance Descaler and it seems to be a bit better, so will use some more tonight. :)

try a pumice stone if none of the others work, sometimes chemicals arent enough
